Free Professional Development on Online Accessibility

Enrollment Management & Student Affairs and the Disability Resource Center invite you to attend free trainings regarding web accessibility. Terrill Thompson, Technology Accessibility Specialist from the University of Washington, will be at PSU on August 19 and 20, 2014. Please click here to sign up.   • Web Accessibility: Open Forum for University Community
    • Date: August 19, 2014
    • Time: 3:30 to 5:00pm

    • Topic: Web Accessibility (What is it? Why do we need to do it? Myths. Examples of how it can benefity people with disabilities. What does accessibility look like in other online arenas? What are the critical conversations we should be having and plans we should be making?)
       
  • Lab on Accessible Documents, Part 1
    • Date: August 20, 2014
    • Time: 9:00 to 10:15am
    • Location: Neuberger Hall 465 
    • Topic: Accessible Documents, Part 1 (What constitutes an accessible document? How do I create one? We will explore this process in a hands-on lab using Microsoft Word and examine strategies for converting to accessible PDF.) 
       
  • Lab on Accessible Documents, Part 2
    • Date: August 20, 2014
    • Time: 10:30am to 12:00pm
    • Location: Neuberger Hall 465
    • Topic: Accessible Documents, Part 2 (In this hands-on lab we will explore PDF accessibility in greater depth, focusing particularly on how to fix accessibility of a PDF document using Adobe Acrobat Pro.)
       
  • Lab on Accessible Video, Podcasts, and Other Media
    • Date: August 20, 2014
    • Time: 2:30 to 4:30pm
    • Location: Neuberger Hall 465
    • Topic: Accessible Video, Podcasts, and Other Media  (This hands-on lab will explore a variety of issues related to media accessibility, including captioning, audio description, and choosing an accessible media player.)
