Copy Rights Matter
Have you ever had to ask for permission to use your own work? Or have you wondered if there is a way to create coursepacks that are more affordable for your students? Do you know if it is okay to show "The Great Gatsby" in class or post video clips from "Saving Private Ryan" to WebCT?
At Portland State, the rights of authors and other creators matter. We respect and value the time and effort that goes into a creative work whether it's our own creative work or someone else's. Please join the Copyright Working Group for an enlightening one-day event: an overview of copyright issues in academe, a provocative panel discussion with representatives from EDUCAUSE and the Association of American Publishers, an informative faculty panel and helpful breakout sessions about the impact of legal and publishing copyright concerns on faculty. This is not a how-to-comply training session, but a forum for grappling with the increasingly complex copyright issues that come up in higher education.
