The LIV-IN Project, which stands for Livable Infill, is a supplement to the City of Portland Bureau of Planning's Infill Design Project, which is aimed at improving the livability of new infill development through on-site design.
The LIV-IN Project concentrates specifically on the design of multi-family infill development in the vicinity of SE 122nd Avenue, an area that has experienced much of this type of development over the last five years and faces challenges unique from other parts of Portland. This case study highlights the community's infill design preferences, as expressed through surveys, a public workshop, and stakeholder interviews. It also explores whether or not these preferences are being met on the ground and provides recommendations for regulatory and non-regulatory strategies to improve the quality of multi-family infill design in Outer Southeast Portland.
