Moore grew up in Portland, Oregon and graduated from the University of
Oregon with a degree in Literature and History. He began piano at age
nine and contrabass at age twelve. Glen moved to New York City in '67
and formed the Jazz group OREGON with Ralph Towner, Paul Mc Candless
and Collin Walcott. Since 1972 he has toured the world and recorded 27
CD's with OREGON.
His credits with World Music and Jazz artists are extensive,
including: Paul Bley, Nick Brignola, Zbigniew Seifert, Lorena
McKennitt, Glen Velez, Tim Hardin, Rabih abou-Khalil, Elvin Jones,
Jimmy Cobb, Kurt Elling, Tony Williams, Chico Hamilton, Lawrence
Williams, David Holland, Stuff Smith, Charlie Mariano, Sonny Fortune
and Larry Coryell. He is a specialist in virtuostic duets with Ralph
Towner, Jeremy Steig, Benny Wallace, Nancy King, Larry Karush, Jerry
Grinnelli, Allen Ginsburg, Marvin Bell and many poets.
His passion for music has lead him to teach an in-depth bass course as
well as “Lectures in Courage” a spontaneous composition workshop and
the “Oregon Ensemble which focuses on learning the compositions of
Ralph Towner. Mr. Moore joined the PSU Music faculty in 2001.
