Profile: Meet Student Ambassador Keighty Gallagher

Major: Marketing and Advertising

Having spent Keighty’s first 18 years in the province of British Columbia, she is proud to call Vancouver Island her home. Keighty gives thanks to her mentor Rian Rhoe and her dad “Jimbo” for helping her discover Portland after given the opportunity to have an internship in the snowboarding industry. Learning the ins and outs of living in a bustling city, rich with personality and charm, the decision to move to Portland from the University of Oregon on a track and field scholarship was the best move of her life.

As a returning ambassador, Keighty will always remember the animated and tremendously amiable family whom she met on a campus tour she led. Being taken out for lunch filled with gut busting jokes on social and controversial topics after just a brief meeting on a tour reminds Keighty of her own family who’s foundation built Keighty the traits that her peers describe as “enthusiastic, kooky, and compassionate (Thanks to Taylor Family).”

Keighty is known to spread her time quite thin, taking 4 courses, working at Food for Thought Café, being a Student Ambassador and volunteering at Big Brothers Big Sisters. However, if she wasn’t so busy, what would stop this space cadet from floating away?

Goals after Graduation: To work in the hospitality industry. And, to start an aerobics night club.
