To increase classroom opportunities and better facilitate departmental operations, the School of Extended Studies is relocating to the Market Square Building, 1515 SW Fifth Ave., from its current building on Park Avenue. The move will be completed on June 6.
The school's new facility is 19,000 square-feet of redesigned office space, including a street-level admissions and registration area (suite 102), and expanded classroom and office space on the building's 10th floor (suite 1050). The new classrooms are also available to other Portland State departments. Regular building hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. Evening and weekend classes are also scheduled. Located within Fareless Square, the building is easily accessible via the Portland Street Car, TriMet bus lines, and other public transportation options.
"This is an important move for Extended Studies," says Vice Provost Mike Burton. "Our departments will be better situated for collaboration, and we will have more classroom space under our control for a more directed learning experience. The heightened visibility along Southwest Fifth Avenue will help as well."
School of Extended Studies departments are the Dean's Offices, Online and Distance Learning, Professional Development Center, Extended Campus, Independent Study: College and High School, Outreach and Market, Development, Summer Session, Print and Web Group, and Continuing Education Press. All contact information, expect street address, remains the same.
