US News and World Report named Portland State's Rehabilitation Counseling program as one of the top 25 in the country. The report, released April 29, places PSU's program 24th in a two-way tie with Florida State University. The 19-year-old Rehabilitation Counseling program resides in the Graduate School of Education's Special and Counselor Education Department, and is part of the Counselor Education master's program. The Council on Rehabilitation Education recently accredited the program for an eight-year cycle.
"This is definitely gratifying since we are so small," said Professor Hanoch Livneh, the only full-time professor in the program. "Other programs have as many as five faculty in this area."
Portland State's program is the highest ranked in the region, with Western Washington University and Western Oregon University following at 33 and 45 respectively.
