Yoshini Gunawardena was chosen 2008 PSU Student Employee of the Year at the annual reception April 16. Gunawardena works in Campus Recreation Programs. Four outstanding honorees were also named: Janine Cunningham, Master of International Management Program; Archana Parajuli, New Student Programs; Josh Read, Campus Recreation Programs; and Raisa Trivanov, Networking and Telecom Services.

This year, 50 students were nominated by supervisors from departments across campus. Nominators spoke of the students' hard work, dedication, commitment, initiative, and most of all—"significant contribution to their departments." The event is held in conjunction with National Student Employee Week, an organized effort sponsored by the National Association of Student Employee Administrators to formally recognize the contributions that student employees make to higher education.

Gunawardena and last year's winner Tatsuki Kawaguchi were also recognized by the Western Association of Student Employee Administrators as the 2008 and 2007 Oregon Student Employee of the Year.
