Did you know that by the year 2010, population projections indicate that 847,000 new persons in the world will reach the age of 65 each month (An Aging World: 2001, U.S. Census Bureau)?

If you are interested in learning more about a career in gerontology, please stop by for a free event. Portland State University's Gerontology Student Group and the Institute on Aging are hosting the event. A panel discussion for the national Careers in Aging Week will feature a diverse group of speakers to address students from all over the region. Everyone is welcome and we will be providing *light refreshments and snacks* for the event. Students, faculty and professionals will also have a chance to participate in some informal networking.

Participants include Karen Shimada (Life by Design), Paula Carder (PSU professor), Becky Wehrli (Long Term Care Insurance), and Ellen Liu Kellor (former PSU Gerontology Certificate and MSW student) involved in a high technology care setting (Oatfield Estates). They will discuss their educational background, career paths and thoughts on the future of careers in aging.
