Shelly Chabon wins award for volunteerism
Shelly Chabon, Speech and Hearing Sciences faculty, was chosen out of 135,000 members to receive the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's Dorothy Dreyer Award for Volunteerism. This award acknowledges a member who has made significant and outstanding volunteer contributions to the association and has served as a model of volunteerism to others. Chabon received the award Nov. 20 at the association's annual convention. |

Mike Burton appointed to legislative task force
Mike Burton, Extended Studies vice provost, has been selected co-chair of the Oregon Legislative Task Force on Veterans Reintegration. The task force has been charged with making recommendations to the governor and legislature regarding implementation of the new federal GI Bill, employment, family issues, suicide rates, housing, and health care issues among veterans. Burton is a Vietnam-era veteran, retired USAF officer, and a former member of the Oregon Legislature. |
