Thomas Shrimpton, Computer Science faculty, has received a five-year, $400,000 National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development award for his proposal, "Design Principles for Cryptographic Hash Functions: Foundations, Primitives, and Transforms."
20 Apr 2009 Ken Ruoff receives grant from Northeast Asia Council
Ken Ruoff, History faculty, received a $1,721 grant from the Northeast Asia Council of the Association for Asian Studies in support of domestic travel and research to complete his manuscript Enjoying Modernity: Middle-Class Japan in Wartime Japan, 1940.

Paula Carder, Institute on Aging Community Health faculty, received a $25,000 grant from Oregon's Seniors and Persons with Disabilities to analyze regulatory strategies that states use to support the development of affordable housing and supportive services.

F. Rudolf Beyl, Mathematics and Statistics faculty, is the principal investigator of a grant awarded by the National Science Foundation for the project “International Seminar on Low-Dimensional Homotopy Theory and Combinatorial Group Theory”.
20 Apr 2009 David Allen receives Office of Special Education Programs grant
David Allen, Education faculty, received a four-year, $797,123 grant from the Office of Special Education Programs, U.S. Department of Education. The grant will fund the Blended Early Education Specialists Project, which Allen will direct in the Graduate School of Education's Research Center on Inclusive and Effective Educational Practices.
13 Apr 2009 Scott Wells receives grant from Washington Department of Ecology
Scott Wells, Civil and Environmental Engineering faculty, received a grant of $114,000 from the Washington Department of Ecology to develop a water quality and hydrodynamic model of Banks Lake in Eastern Washington. Banks Lake receives water by pumped inflows from Lake Roosevelt on the Columbia River and provides irrigation water to a large part of eastern Washington for agriculture. This project will place special emphasis on looking at fish habitat changes that result from management changes in the lake system.

Sean Kohles, Mechanical and Materials Engineering faculty, and others received a five-year, $225,148 grant from the National Institute of Health to support the application of a "Mechanical Bioreactor for Engineered Tissue Development."
06 Apr 2009 Carl Wamser receives gift from Silicon Chemical Corporation
Carl Wamser, Chemistry faculty, received an unsolicited gift of $25,000 from the Silicon Chemical Corporation to support his solar research and research in solar energy technology education at PSU.
06 Apr 2009 Marcus Ingle, Douglas Morgan, and Yoici Sato receive Ford Foundation grant
Marcus Ingle, Douglas Morgan, and Yoici Sato, Hatfield School and Executive Leadership Institute faculty, received a $200,000 grant from the Ford Foundation to support PSU's collaboration with the Vietnam Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Public Administration in Hanoi.
06 Apr 2009 Elise Granek receives grant for study of watershed inhabitants
Elise Granek, Environmental Sciences faculty, was the co-recipient of an MJ Murdock Partners in Science Grant for 2009-2011 for the project “Study of Watershed Contaminants in Rocky Intertidal Marine Habitats.”
