PORTLAND - A new report authored by faculty at Portland State University says Oregon's largest county is a "uniquely toxic place" for people of color.
Among its findings, the report says people of color earn less than $17,000 a year in Multnomah County compared with $33,000 for white workers.
In education, 30 percent of minorities drop out of high school compared with about 7 percent of whites.
The report will be presented to the Portland City Council today. The Oregonian reports the city spent $50,000 to help pay for the research. Multnomah County paid $100,000 and a coalition minority groups also contributed.
