Portland State Hosts the University’s Second Tweetup for Social Media Fans

Portland, OR – The Office of University Communications will host the second Portland State "Tweetup" from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, October 6 at Urban Plaza, 1800 SW 6th Avenue. The Tweetup, sponsored by Coca-Cola, PSU 7-Eleven, PSU Dining, and the University Market Store, is a social media event for PSU social media fans as well as students, staff, faculty, alumni, and friends to meet each other in real life and connect.

The Tweetup will feature free admission, ice cream floats and snacks, a photobooth, and raffle prizes. The Viking football team and the Spirit Squad will provide entertainment during the event. Attendees will receive a raffle ticket for the chance to win grand prizes, including a Dahon folding bicycle, PSU Bookstore gift certificates, PSU gear, and an iPad 2. Other prizes include gift certificates and swag from PSU Athletics, Hot Lips Pizza, the Japanese Garden, Rogue Ale, Lucky Spoon Frozen Yogurt, Portland Symphony Orchestra, Bishops Barbershop, and the Governor Hotel. For more chances to win, PSU social media fans are encouraged to visit the University Market Store in the Smith Union or the PSU 7-Eleven Store across from Lincoln Hall. The first 50 attendees at the event will also get an extra entry into the raffle.

This event hopes to continue to encompass the objective of the first Tweetup held last April – to build community, pride, and tradition on a campus attended by nearly 30,000 students.  “Through events like the Tweetup, we want everyone, even for a moment, to put down their smartphones or iPad’s, meet new people in real life, and build a community here on campus,” says Christian Aniciete, PSU Communication & Events Lead.
