Portland State University’s graduate program in communication is accepting applications through March 1 for the master’s degree.
Classes are offered for full-time and part-time students, and many courses are held in the evening for working professionals.
The graduate program covers a range of topics including politics, health, conversation, persuasion and propaganda, according to the director of the program, Prof. Cynthia-Lou Coleman.
Coleman said the program attracts students who work in public relations, media, advertising, human resources and management. “Our graduates land jobs with ad agencies, health organizations, theatre companies, law firms, the film industry—you name it.”
Coleman said a bonus for full-time students are fellowships that cover the cost of tuition and provide a monthly allowance. “That means Portland State is still affordable,” she said.
