Portland State University’s School of Business Administration is ranked 22nd on a list of the Global Top 100 Schools in the 2007–2008 edition of “Beyond Grey Pinstripes,” by demonstrating significant leadership in integrating social and environmental issues into its MBA+ program. The report places PSU in the company of Yale, Columbia and Stanford.

Beyond Grey Pinstripes, a biennial survey and alternative ranking of business schools, spotlights innovative full-time Master of Business Administration programs and faculty that lead the way in integrating issues of social and environmental stewardship into business school curricula and research.

“We are thrilled to remain ranked as one of the world’s top business schools,” said Scott Dawson, dean of the School of Business Administration and Vergil Miller professor. “Faculty and students are drawn to this region and to Portland State University by our shared belief in the importance of economic, environmental and social sustainability. These values motivate faculty to tackle intellectual questions and teach passionately about issues that affect the sustainability of our community and our world. We are proud that our focus on sustainability shines through in everything we do.”

The ranking measures the extent to which business schools prepare their students for the reality of tomorrow’s markets, equipping them with an understanding of the social, environmental and economic perspectives required for business success in a competitive global economy. A full description of the report, its methodology and individual MBA program ratings is available online at www.beyondgreypinstripes.org.

“This year’s survey tells us that society and the environment are becoming significant issues on campus, not just for students, but in the dean’s office and in many classrooms,” said Rich Leimsider, director of the Aspen Institute Center for Business Education, which conducted the survey.
