On October 24th hundreds of people turned out for the NASCC 10 year anniversary events.

The day’s celebrations were commenced with welcomes from university administrators, current students, alumni and a special address from Terry Cross MSW '77, Executive Director of the National Indian Child Welfare Association.

Throughout the day guests had the opportunity to take tours led by NASCC Advisory Board members. Historical photos and documents were displayed throughout the building. During the Center’s open house Rose Hill, former Native American Student Services Coordinator, sat with others by the fireplace, reminiscing around photo albums.

In the evening students, faculty, staff and community members blessed the grounds of the NASCC. Attendees had the opportunity to spread seeds of native plants on the west end of the building where students recently expanded the garden. The symbolism was beautiful as the NASCC still has room to grow.

The day culminated with a student led salmon feed, community celebration and the launch of the NASCC Alumni Group.
