Scalability and its role as a business imperative for a healthy economy, society and planet is the theme of the Business & Sustainability conference. The practitioner and academic forums will explore important questions such as:
- What does sustainable business development look like as the world population expands?
- How are business leaders and social entrepreneurs tackling the world’s most pressing problems?
- Which new models and innovations have the potential to make the biggest social, environmental and ethical impacts and how do we bring them to scale?
The PSU student rate is only $50, which includes all conference events, meals and receptions. Academic rate is $225, which includes a full afternoon of workshops on teaching sustainability.
McGirt's free talk is 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 7 in 355 Smith Memorial Student Union. RSVPs requested. On Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m., the conference will host a free, live broadcast of Bill McKibben and 360.org's sold out Portland Do The Math Tour in 355 Smith Union; RSVPs also requested. Impact Entrepreneurs and Pacific Northwest College of Art are sponsoring a free presentation by social entrepreneurship, professor Gregory Dees. The lecture is Nov. 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Pacific NW College of Art, Swigert Commons, 1241 NW Johnson St.
