The Oregon University System today announced a record high enrollment of 101,393 students this fall, a modest increase over last year. Enrollment at PSU is essentially flat compared to last fall, but we continue to see positive trends in many areas. For instance, over the past five years, enrollment of international students has increased by 35 percent, by 48 percent for minority students and by 46 percent for high-achieving honors students. Our enrollment of Latino students has doubled in that period. We also see continued increasing demand for a wide range of programs, including social work, engineering, film and computer science. Thank you for your diligence in helping us achieve these successes.
The total number of credit hours is down about 1 percent from last year. While the reduction results in less revenue than we expected, we are utilizing central carry forward resources to manage the revenue shortfall.
