Cannon Beach
Cannon Beach is a coastal town 80 miles west of Portland, Oregon. With a population of only 1,600, the town boasts 400,000 visitors annually. One half of these travelers visit Haystack Rock, the world’s third tallest monolith, located 1.5 miles south of Cannon Beach. All Oregon beaches are designated public recreation areas and Cannon Beach has 44 public beach access points. The town is only four miles in length and many of the shops, galleries, and restaurants are within walking distance.
Haystack Summer Choral Conducting classes take place
at the Cannon Beach Elementary School on the north side of town at 268
Beaver Street. The city of Cannon Beach can be reached by Highways 26
and 101. Bus service is available from Portland and shuttle service is
available from the airport.
Housing
Housing is not included in
the workshop fees. A wide variety of housing, from camping to deluxe
accommodations, is available in Cannon Beach and nearby communities. The Cannon Beach Chamber of Commerce ( www.cannonbeach.org)
is a good resource. We recommend making your arrangements as soon
as possible as Cannon Beach is a popular tourist destination during the
summer.
