Welcome to the Department of Music
We are pleased that you are interested in attending Portland State University. As a Music major, you must meet the entrance requirements of the Department of Music. Auditions are required for all undergraduate and graduate music degrees: BA, BS, BM, MM, MAT, MST and Music Minors. To receive an undergraduate or graduate degree in music, you must be officially admitted to both Portland State University and the Department of Music.
Required Applications and Materials
If you wish to apply for an audition and become a music major and/or minor, please complete a Department of Music application and send it, along with copies of official transcripts from all institutions that you have attended to: Department of Music, PO Box 751, Portland, OR 97207-0751. We must receive your application and all the required materials by the deadline in order to schedule an audition with the Department of Music faculty. 2008-2009 Entrance and Scholarship Auditions - February 8 - 10, 2008
To be considered for scholarship awards, you must apply and audition in February. Your admission and scholarship applications are due by 5pm, January 15th, at the Department of Music Office. Entrance & scholarship auditions are held the second week of February. Students who pass their auditions in February will be qualified for entrance into the Department of Music and will be considered for Scholarship Awards. Scholarships are awarded for performance and academic ability and range from $500 to full tuition.
If you miss the February 2008 Entrance & Scholarship Auditions when you are applying for the Fall 2008 Admission, you may still apply and audition with the Department of Music faculty. Please make sure that you will send your application to us by the deadline.
