The Middle East Studies Center sponsors and co-sponsors events throughout the academic year, often in conjunction with different academic departments and student organizations on campus, as well as partners in the Portland community and in the academic community both within Oregon and nationwide. As part of the its effort to promote understanding of the people, cultures, languages, and religions of the Middle East, the Center supports lectures and events related to the Middle East that have a strong academic basis and/or substantial cultural content.
Priority for co-sponsorship will be given to events that foster partnerships among multiple departments and programs, build on areas of strategic interest to the Center, increase the Center’s national profile, and reflect and reward the scholarly excellence of the participants and sponsors.
To request co-sponsorship of an event by the Middle East Studies Center, please submit send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Middle East Studies Center will be listed as a co-sponsor of all events for which it provides funding or promotional support. The Center will review all publicity materials for events that it agrees to cosponsor. Sponsorship is at the discretion of the Center. Any changes to the event, including program details, budget and/or addition of other co-sponsors will be done in consultation with the Middle East Studies Center.
The Middle East Studies Center has a firm policy which prohibits the use of its listservs for any fund-raising initiatives, whether for the Center itself, other units at Portland State University, or organizations in the wider Portland community.
