Even though Latinas have been crucial in the Chicano, Mexican American and Latino movements in the United States, their experiences have often been neglected and erased. At the same time, feminism has struggled with including women of color and the intersectional experiences of Latina women within the movement.
Through this event, we hope to highlight the experience of Latinas in the Latino as well as the feminist movements. The goals of the fair are to promote resources, provide networking space, and educate folks in the community about these experiences that are often erased from discourses around women's issues.
The fair will involve entertainment as well as a series of tables representing different organizations on campus that address Latina issues directly or indirectly. Refreshment will be provided and buttons made! Please join us on this feminist adventure!
