MCC Study Community
Every Tuesday and Thursday: A twice weekly gathering of multicultural and other students at the MCC designed to build community and offer study space and amenities.
Multicultural Student Coffee Hour
Every Wednesday: A weekly multicultural student get-together aimed at bridging cultural differences and enhancing learning between international and domestic students.
Black Bag Speaker Series
An academic collaboration with the Black Studies Department featuring lectures by faculty and area experts of color in various academic disciplines.
R.E.A.C.H Projects
A series of quarterly interactive speaking engagements exposing multicultural students to local history, art, politics and business.
Peer 2 Peer Mentoring
A student-driven program that pairs returning upper classmen/women with new or transfer students for coaching in social and academic transitions.
Immigrant Youth Outreach Program (IYOP)
This program will outreach primarily to Somali students and other African immigrant communities in the Portland metropolitan area. With a view to increase the number of Somali and other increasing students to attending college in the state of Oregon.
Multicultural Student Welcome Reception
The purpose of this event is to build community and connect incoming students with PSU’s diverse faculty/staff and active PSU student leaders to help enhance the newcomers’ academic and social success at PSU.
Mid-East Campus Forums
A greater understanding of one of the world’s most troubled regions is the drive for this monthly presentation delving into all aspects Mid-East life by PSU and regional experts.
Roots Festival
A student- driven celebration of world cultures and appreciation of the differences that sometimes divide us. Art and music from the world over provide the backdrop to all forms of expression.
MCC Graduation
A long-running annual tribute to multicultural and first generation student excellence in various academic disciplines.
MLK Tribute Week
An annual, community-wide recognition and appreciation of the pre-eminent work and historic contributions of the most influential civil rights leader of the modern era.
Building Brotherhood
A systematic approach to the recruitment and retention of males of color in higher ed, involving networking, group support and resource-sharing.
