PSU students spruce up New Avenues for Youth facilities
Portland State University students hosted a volunteer day on Feb. 18 to support New Avenues for Youth, a nonprofit organization that helps homeless youth get off the streets, get a job, and get their lives back together.
Students from PSU's TRIO Student Support Services, Upward Bound, and Talent Search programs for first-generation, low-income, or disabled students spent President's Day improving the New Avenues for Youth facility.
They deep-cleaned the bathroom, shower, and kitchen, organized the clothing closet, and did general maintenance. Their work will help the organization better serve local homeless youth who are transitioning into homes, jobs and school.
