LING 437/537: First Language Acquisition

This course will examine general issues in first language acquisition, focusing on infancy and the preschool years.

Topics to be covered include: communication in infancy, word learning, the development of sound patterns, the development of sentence structure, the development of social language skills, atypical language development and language disorders, and the development of language in the early school years.
