HST 399 “History of Canada” is a broad survey of Canadian economic, social, and political history from ca.15th century through the 20th century. Our themes include the contribution of First Nations peoples, colonialism, the transition from French to British rule, political development, important social and economic movements, and Canadian identity. We will study Canadian literature, art, and film to understand the nation’s history and guest speakers will be invited to offer their interpretations of Canada’s past.
Everyone is welcome in this class; there are no prerequisites.
