WHAT
The 2012 OLAA Summit invites a broad-based coalition of organizations, communities, and individuals from Oregon to come together and identify priorities, advocate for system changes, and develop public policy recommendations to benefit Latinos in Oregon.
Registration begins at 8:00am. The Summit will initiate at 9:00am and end at 5:00pm. Participants can expect to be informed on the current issues facing the Latino community, create connections with individuals statewide, and develop strategies to address those issues.
This year, we are honored to have Arturo Vargas as the keynote speaker. Mr. Vargas is the Executive Director of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials and the NALEO Educational Fund. Nationally recognized as an expert in Latino demographic trends, electoral participation, voting rights, the Census, and redistricting, Mr. Vargas will discuss how Latinos are shaping the U.S. political landscape and inform Latino Oregonians how to foster change through public service.
