International Student Orientation

Each term, International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) provide an in-depth International Student Orientation program to international students who are just beginning their studies at Portland State.

The program includes presentations on F-1 and J-1 immigration regulations, cultural adjustment, resources both on and off campus, and practical information on topis such as paying fees and registering for classes.  Students also have the opportunity to meet with an advisor and register for classes if they have not done so prior to arriving in Portland.

Throughout the term, students have the opportunity to learn more about PSU and Portland by attending our workshops, presentations and trips.  Recent presentations have covered topics such as: resume and career preparation, accent reduction, being a successful student in your first term, citations and paper writing.
