Summer Guide 2012

Summer is here and so are 15,000 students enrolled in the largest academic summer program in Oregon. Only in the summer can you complete a year's worth of language or science courses in nine weeks, stay in a residence hall without taking classes and study more outside than inside. Here’s your summer guide to Portland State.

Courses: PSU’s summer session offers 2,200 courses in 60 departments lasting from one to 12 weeks with start dates throughout the summer. Register now.

Housing: Continuing students can live in the residence halls with no academic requirement, and residents of some buildings give a 10 percent summer discount. PSU’s newest student housing option, University Pointe at College Station, opens in the fall.

Campus Rec: The summer schedule includes fitness classes, swim clinics, youth activities and outdoor trips. The summer schedule is here.

Tour the World at Home: Ten visiting scholars from all over the world will give free lectures most Wednesdays at noon from June 27-Aug. 15 in Smith Memorial Student Union and some evenings at the World Affairs Council.

Orientation: Mandatory all-day advising and registration sessions for freshmen start June 28. New students are invited back Sept. 17-23 for Viking Days in the Park Blocks.

Commencement: PSU's summer commencement is at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18 in the South Park Blocks.
