PSU Athletics to Host Annual Wine Tasting and Auction Event to Benefit Student-Athletes, Feb. 25

What: Portland State University's Athletics Department is holding its fifth annual “Night of Wine & Roses” to raise money for student-athlete scholarships. A wine tasting is the centerpiece of the event, where attendees can sample wines from several wineries and purchase mixed cases at below–retail prices. This black­­–tie optional event also features live entertainment, dancing, fine cuisine and both a silent and live auction. Auction items include: trip to San Diego and VIP seats at a Padres baseball game, private winery tour and dinner, and laundry room makeover with a new washer and dryer. Valet parking will be available.

When: Saturday, February 25, 2006, 5 p.m.–midnight

Where: Portland State University, Ballroom, room 355, Smith Memorial Student Union (1825 SW Broadway Ave.).

Cost: Individual tickets are $100; $1,000 for a table of 10.

Background: Highlighting the entertainment at the event are performances by student-athletes, showcasing their talents off the field. “A Night of Wine & Roses” is the premier fundraising event for Portland State’s Athletics Department. This year's goal is to raise $110,000; all proceeds go toward scholarships for the more than 300 student-athletes who participate in varsity sports at Portland State University.
