Upcoming IMS EventsToward One Oregon: Rural/Urban Interdependence
Beth Emshoff, who has joined the Institute as Portland Metropolitan Liaison for Oregon State University Extension Service, is planning a October conference in Salem to help Oregonians see our state in a new way and to envision new possibilities for working together across urban and rural areas, and to provide model for other states to consider to understand their own rural-urban links. “Toward One Oregon: Urban/Rural Interdependence” will bring together planners, policymakers, state and local leaders, and a broad range of community assistance providers to explore links between rural and urban people and places, and the ways that these links can be strengthened for the benefit of the state. Topics will include defining the links and differences between urban and rural Oregon; how policy can be used to bridge differences; and lessons to be learned from others. The conference is planned for October 2008. Details will be posted here as they become available.
