IBPI is committed to fostering a new generation of transportation professionals who are holistic and context-sensitive in their approach to transportation planning and design for bicycles and pedestrians.
Thanks to the generosity of Rex Burkholder and Lydia Rich, Alta Planning + Design and DKS Associates, we are pleased to have awarded three scholarships for the 2013-2014 academic year.
Requirements (please review each scholarship's full details):
- Be enrolled (full- or part-time) in the Master of Urban and Regional Planning (MURP), Master of Urban Studies (MUS), or Ph.D. in Urban Studies program during the full 2014-15 academic year. MSCE, MEng and PhD CEE students are eligible for the DKS Associates scholarship only. Incoming and continuing students may apply.
- Maintain a 3.0 GPA while receiving the scholarship
- Demonstrate an intent to pursue a career related to bicycle and pedestrian transportation

The Burkholder-Rich scholarship supports a graduate student who intends to pursue a career related to bicycle and pedestrian transportation. The award for 2014-15 is $2500.
The Alta Planning + Design scholarship supports a graduate student who is highly motivated to focus their studies on walking and cycling as mainstream forms of transportation. This is both a scholarship and a paid internship. The award for 2014-15 is $1425.
The DKS Associates scholarship will support a student seeking to better understand how communities integrate bicycling and walking through the engineering, design and planning processes. The award for 2014-15 is $950.
