IBPI Scholarships

IBPI is committed to fostering a new generation of transportation professionals who are holistic and context-sensitive in their approach to transportation planning and design for bicycles and pedestrians.

Thanks to the generosity of Rex Burkholder and Lydia Rich, Alta Planning + Design, The Bike Gallery, Stephen Gomez, and DKS, we are pleased to have awarded five scholarships for the 2012-2013 academic year.

 

Requirements (requirements vary somewhat between scholarships, so please see each scholarship's full details below):

 

  • Be enrolled (full- or part-time) in the Master of Urban and Regional Planning (MURP), Master of Urban Studies (MUS), or Ph.D. in Urban Studies program during the full 2013-14 academic year. Incoming and continuing students may apply.
  • Maintain a 3.0 GPA while receiving the scholarship
  • Demonstrate an intent to pursue a career related to bicycle and pedestrian transportation
  •

The Rex Burkholder and Lydia Rich Scholarship 2013-14.doc supports a graduate student who intends to pursue a career related to bicycle and pedestrian transportation.

The Alta Planning + Design Scholarship 2013-14.doc supports a graduate student who is highly motivated to focus their studies on walking and cycling as mainstream forms of transportation. This is both a scholarship and a paid internship.

The DKS Scholarship 2013-14.doc will support a student seeking to better understand how communities integrate bicycling and walking through the engineering, design and planning processes.
