Deadlines

Fall 2013 Deadlines:

A few spaces remain for Fall 2013. Applications will be considered as they are received. Current PSU students interested in joining the Honors Program for Fall must submit their applications by June 1, 2013.

Fall 2014 Deadlines:

Applications for Fall 2014 will be accepted beginning September 1, 2013.

Our priority deadline is December 1, 2013.

Our regular deadline is February 1, 2014.

  • All applications must be submitted online by midnight, or have their paper application postmarked on the day of the deadline.

Minimum Criteria

First-Year Students (entering from high school) minimum criteria:

  • 3.50 cumulative un-weighted high school GPA OR
  • 1200 on the SAT (Critical Reading + Math) OR
  • 26 on the ACT

Transfer/Current PSU Student minimum criteria:

  • Transfer college cumulative 3.25 GPA OR
  • PSU cumulative 3.25 GPA

Application Checklist

  1. Submit your PSU admission application and all required materials (contact the PSU Office of Admissions for more information).

  2. Apply to the Honors Program:

    Complete the Honors Program online application form or mail us a completed paper application. Download the paper application as a PDF or Word document.

  3. Make sure PSU Admissions receives official transcripts and SAT/ACT test scores (first-year students only)

Selection Process

Due to enrollment constraints, while many applicants will meet the minimum criteria for admission to the Honors Program, not everyone will be selected.

Selection criteria for incoming first-year students is based on cumulative un-weighted high school GPA, SAT or ACT scores, and responses to essay questions. The essay responses are weighed on an even scale with GPA and test scores, so special consideration should be given to this component of the application. The strength of courses taken in high school and personal or academic attributes that will enrich the Honors community may also be considered.

For college transfers or current PSU students, selection criteria are based upon the applicant's college GPA and their essay responses. Personal or academic attributes that will enrich the Honors community are also considered.

Fees

There is no fee to apply to the Honors Program.
