    Jody Sundt is an Assistant Professor and Graduate Coordinator in the Division of Criminology and Criminal Justice within the Hatfield School of Government. She holds a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati. She is interested in social responses to crime, particularly the use of punishment.

    Her research focuses on the effectiveness of correctional policy, religion in prison, and public attitudes toward crime and punishment. Her current research focuses on the occupational experiences of correctional officers, the effectiveness of supermax prisons, and the effect of incarceration on sexual behavior. In 2006, professor Sundt was named a Distinguished New Scholar by the American Society of Criminology's Division of Corrections and Sentencing. She is past chair of the American Society of Criminology's Division on Corrections and Sentencing and a former member of the executive board of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences.
