Jennifer Connor-Smith received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 1999, and did a post-doctoral fellowship focused on treatment outcome research at UCLA. She served as a faculty member in the Oregon State University Psychology Department, and as a Senior Research Analyst for the Multnomah County Domestic Violence Coordinator’s Office before coming to Portland State in 2009.Dr. Connor-Smith’s research interests involve understanding how external factors, such as stress and poor access to resources, interact with internal factors, such as personality and coping, to influence risk for youth behavior problems and distress. Her research has spanned treatment outcome research, assessment of physiological responses to stress in a laboratory setting, development of a widely used measure of responses to stress, and cross-cultural investigation of responses to stress. Current research focuses on better understanding causes and consequences of intimate partner violence.
