Profile: Criminology and Criminal Justice Online

Dynamic Education Taught by Seasoned Professionals

The online Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice degree provides rigorous coursework and instruction to students desiring to start or continue their advancement in the Criminal Justice marketplace. According to the U.S. Department of Labor the career growth outlook for Criminal Justice professionals is expected to remain high for several years with an increase of nearly 24% across the nation by the year 2012.

In keeping with the mission of Portland State, the Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice online degree emphasizes the importance of diversity, ethical treatment and involvement in the community. To that end, the program specifically provides students with opportunities to debate some of the most controversial issues facing our nation and apply what they have learned in the classroom to community settings.

In addition to the B.S. degree, the Division of Criminology and Criminal Justice offers fully-online courses that can be applied to three advanced certificates. Two of the certificates, The American Justice System and Advanced Crime Analysis, are awarded by the College of Urban and Public Affairs. The third, a post-baccalaureate certificate in Criminology and Criminal Justice, is awarded by Portland State University.
