The Executive Leadership Institute
serves elected officials and career administrators. The Institute's
offerings fall into four service lines: professional development
programs; a variety of short courses on management, organizational
performance, and policy issues; leader coaching, and custom consulting engagements.
Since its creation more than 1,000 local administrators from nearly
three dozen jurisdictions and 150 agencies have participated in ELI
programs, typically at off-campus locations throughout the region.
In all its programs, ELI seeks to cultivate the following leadership qualities:
High commitment to public services as a sacred trust
Excellent strategic thinking and management capabilities
Capacity to reconcile competing democratic tensions
Ability to manage ambiguity, conflict, and uncertainty
