New Student Orientation

Orientation is a critical component of Portland State's graduate business programs. It is mandatory that all incoming students attend required sessions, but we highly encourage participation in additional events.
- Saturday September 21, 2013:
REQUIRED for all incoming students in the Online MBA and MS Global Supply Chain Management programs - Sunday September 22 - Monday September 23, 2013:
REQUIRED for all incoming graduate business students * - Tuesday September 24 – Friday September 27, 2013:
Optional for all incoming graduate business students (campus tours, student group events, career seminars, Excel workshops and more)
*The Healthcare MBA orientation sessions will be held separately; students in that program are invited to activities on September 22 but are not required to attend
The full orientation schedule will be posted in spring. Here is a snapshot of what you will be experiencing:
-
Connect: The cohort nature of Portland State's Graduate Business Programs fosters an environment of camaraderie and team building. During Orientation, each of you will have ample time to meet fellow students entering the same graduate program. You will also have the chance to meet incoming students from the other graduate business programs as well as faculty, staff and deans.
-
Prepare: Program directors will guide the program during your experience. During orientation, they will help you prepare for what is ahead by discussing curriculum and program expectations. This also includes discussion about what international experience opportunities you will have throughout your program.
-
Engage: Students who get involved right away make the most of their experience. You will hear from current students and alumni about how they got involved and balanced the program with work, family and other commitments. You will also have the opportunity to talk with representatives from student groups, community organizations and campus resources.
