MRED Workshop Project
As a final capstone course, each student in the MRED program will participate in BA 562 Real Estate Development Workshop.
In this workshop, students work in teams to create a comprehensive development plan of a pre-selected site. Students interview city planners, architects, lenders, brokers, property managers, and developers from the local real estate industry to determine what to build, what can be built, market demand for certain product types, typical construction costs, operating cost ratios, and ultimately to help formulate the development plan.
Past examples of Real Estate Development Workshop projects can be found here.
Upon completion of the course, students have the opportunity to present their development plan to the real estate community. In winter term the students presentf their plan at a multi-university NAIOP competition held in Seattle, WA. In summer term the students present to local real estate professionals at the Building Operators and Managers Association (BOMA) and PSU School of Business' monthly Business Briefing meeting.
