(Portland, OR) – Portland State University (PSU) President Wim Wiewel announced today that Mark Gregory will serve as acting vice president for finance and administration this summer.
Gregory, who has worked at PSU for 13 years and served as associate vice president for finance and administration since 2006, will fill the vice president's role following the retirement of Lindsay Desrochers on July 1 until the arrival of Monica Rimai on Aug. 21.
"PSU has many important projects underway so continuity of leadership is critical," Wiewel said. "Mark Gregory will provide that based on his extensive experience here, and we know that he will enable a smooth transition for Monica Rimai when she arrives later this summer."
Gregory's work at PSU has involved managing diverse areas including Facilities and Planning, IT, Real Estate, Housing and Auxiliaries, as well as Campus Sustainability. He joined PSU in 1998, first serving as director of computing and networking, and becoming chief information officer in 2000. Prior to joining PSU, Gregory served as technology manager and senior associate for the Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory in Portland, and before that as a research and development engineer for a Chicago-based high tech firm. Mark's background also includes starting and running a technology services firm of his own. Mark holds an MBA from PSU and undergraduate degrees in Computer Science/Mathematics and Psychology from the University of Illinois. He has taught both undergraduate and graduate level courses for PSU.
"I am very pleased to be able to serve Portland State University as acting vice president of finance and administration during this transition time," Gregory said. "With our significant financial planning efforts and major capital projects underway, it is going to be a busy summer for me and the whole finance and administration team."
Rimai, senior vice chancellor and chief operating officer for the State University of New York (SUNY), will permanently replace Desrochers as the principal steward of PSU's financial, human, information and physical resources when she joins PSU in August.
