Retained Life Estate to Create Scholarship
"I believe that women returning to college deserve a helping hand."
Judy Clark enrolled at Portland State as an adult student, completing her Bachelor's of Science degree in Sociology, Psychology, and Anthropology in 1993. In order to help future returning students, Judy created an estate plan that will establish the Judy Rae Clark Scholarship for women undergraduate students over age 50.
Using her home to create a "retained life estate", ownership of Judy's home will transfer to the PSU Foundation, but not until Judy passes away. Through the retained life estate, Judy enjoys an immediate charitable income tax deduction and does not have to relinquish the use of her condo. When the PSU Foundation ultimately receives her property, it will be sold, providing funds to create the Judy Rae Clark Scholarship.
Judy is very pleased that she has made a significant gift to Portland State so future returning women students can receive her helping hand.
