Dr. Yangdong Pan graduated with his MS in Biology from Southern Illinois University in 1988 and went on to earn his PhD from Bowling Green State University in 1993. His research foci include environmental monitoring and assessment, freshwater algal ecology, management of nuisance and toxic algal blooms, and stream/river ecology.
Some of Dr. Pan's grant work includes working with the EPA on the evaluation of periphyton-environmental gradients in western streams, and a biologically driven national classification scheme for US streams and rivers.
Dr. Pan currently teaches classes in the areas of Ecology of Streams and Rivers, Multivariate Analysis of Environmental and Biological Data, Environmental Data Analysis, and Environmental Risk Assessment.
Dr. Pan became Chair of the Environmental Science & Management Department in 2012.
