Portland State University is in its first capital campaign, Building Our Future, with a fundraising goal of $100 million. Your support helps will help the School of Fine & Performing Arts raise over $3 million to open doors of opportunity for students and be an essential partner with our community. I am today asking that you make a gift to Art, Architecture, Music or Theater to ensure FPA can continue to offer students the opportunity to learn and develop their artistic range, so that some day they can take their place as creative professionals. Scholarship support: Your gift can provide funding for very talented artists who otherwise couldn't afford to attend. The growth of FPA, from 800 students to almost 2,000 majors in the past 6 years is testament to the value of the education for our professional development.
Individual programs, from Opera to our bi-annual Arts exchange with Ulsan, South Korea and from Theater's new plays to Architecture's sterling lecture series: Your contribution can help support the excellent work undertaken by our students and faculty which also enrich our community.
Special Projects include the DePreist Visiting Professorship in Ethnic Art; becoming an all-Steinway school (pianos are a high priority!); renovation of our aging performance facilities; upgrading our graphic design capacity (we serve over 500 Majors!); travel expenses that allow our superb students in every discipline to go to New York and Europe to extend their education through touring, performing and developing their professional knowledge.
