The Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships at Portland State welcomes the opportunity to assist parents and families with the process of funding their student’s education.

Our staff will help you understand all the steps of the financial aid process, from the first step of filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid, PSU School code = 003216) to the awarding of student financial aid. Although the FAFSA calculates student federal financial aid eligibility, it is also necessary to file a FAFSA if a parent wishes to take out a Direct Parent PLUS loan to help cover the educational costs not paid for by the student’s financial aid award.

Due to federal privacy regulations that do not allow student information to be shared without a student’s consent, dependent students must complete a Request for Release of Confidential Information form to allow their financial aid information to be shared with parents.

The Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships looks forward to working with you to make the financial aid process as easy as possible and to assist you however we can in being successful at PSU and beyond.
