To be considered for regular admission by Portland State University applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 in all undergraduate courses or a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 in all graduate courses (a minimum of 9 credits). Students with an undergraduate GPA below 2.75 can be considered for conditional admission. The conditions of admission usually require the student to maintain a 3.0 GPA or above for the first 9 credits of his/her graduate program. Students failing to meet this condition will be dropped from the department. The average GPA of admitted students is 3.45. If your undergraduate GPA is low, we suggest taking at least 9 graded graduate quarter hours to replace your undergraduate GPA. These courses must be completed and submitted on a transcript as part of your application.
