Is my sponsor required to submit an affidavit of support?

Your sponsor must complete and submit one of the following as an affidavit of support:

  • the Portland State Statement of Financial Support form
  • the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services I-134 Affidavit of Support form
  • a letter that includes:
    • your name and date of birth or Portland State ID number
    • your sponsor's name(s)
    • that your sponsor will use funds verified to Portland State in bank statements for your educational and living expenses
    • your sponsor's signature and the date
Portland State must receive one of these forms and your sponsor's supporting financial documentation before we can issue an I-20 immigration document to you.
