Climate Action Plan, New Sustainability Center Director, and Success Stories at PSU's Annual Sustainability Celebration

May 24 event showcases faculty and student sustainability projects, signing of Climate Action Plan, and introduction of new sustainability center director

WHAT: Portland State University’s third-annual sustainability celebration features a formal signing of the University’s Climate Action Plan by President Wim Wiewel, detailing PSU’s intended pathway to carbon neutrality by 2040.

The event also showcases sustainability projects from the 2009–2010 academic year, success stories from teaching, research, operations and will introduce the campus to Robert Costanza, incoming director of PSU’s Center for Sustainable Processes and Practices.

WHEN: Monday, May 24, 2010
4–5 p.m.: Reception and poster session
5–6 p.m.: Formal program with Climate Action Plan signing by PSU President Wim Wiewel, introduction of Robert Costanza, 2009-2010 sustainability success stories.
6–9 p.m.: Freshman Inquiry sustainability celebration, with Affluenza author John de Graaf.

WHERE: Smith Memorial Student Union Ballroom (Room 355), 1825 S.W. Broadway, Portland, Ore.

COST: The event is free and open to PSU students, faculty, staff and community partners.
