April 25 is a day to commemorate global efforts to control malaria around the world. Malaria infects more than 500 million people per year and kills nearly 1 million. The burden of malaria is heaviest in sub-Saharan Africa but the disease also afflicts Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East and even parts of Europe.
Please join us for a seminar on mararia sponsored by Portland State University, Klarquist Sparkman LLP, and DesignMedix, Inc. The seminar includes a talk by Elizabeth Ponder of BioVentures for Global Health entitled "From Bench to Bedside and Back: Translating Global Health Product Needs into Opportunities for Innovation."
The presentation is followed by a reception and poster presentations form several malaria research and product development teams active locally. Come learn about the challenges and celebrate the advances being made toward alleviating the worldwide burden of malaria.
