Presentation by Debra Liebowitz, Associate Professor, Drew University.
Can global human rights policies change women's lives locally? Join us
for an interactive lecture and discussion led by Prof. Debra
Liebowitz, author of the report "Raising the Bar on Women's Rights in
San Francisco," on how international race and women's human rights
laws can be used by local governments and agencies to empower all
women. Liebowitz will focus on how Portland officials and local
activists can effectively employ the UN Convention on the Elimination
of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and the
Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination
(CERD) to ensure equitable policies, resource allocations, and actions
for all women from across the city and region.
