A professor of English at the University of Avignon in southern France, Michakl Vallie holds bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in English and Linguistics from the University of Poitiers. In addition to his training in French universities and his experience teaching at the Universities of Poitiers and Tours before joining the faculty at the University of Avignon, Professor Vallie spent a year as a teaching assistant in French at the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign). His "Tour the World" lecture, which closes the 2004 series, draws attention to life in France and some of the unique cultural characteristics that differentiate the Parisians from the Provinciaux.
